Stuff About Me
I'm just a Southern gal living in the North Country of New York state with a hubby, 5 kids, a dog and a cat. We'll live, love and create as we share our stories and heartaches.

Bring your yarn, hooks and needles and come sit a spell with me. And when you're done, y'all come back, ya hear?

About Cat’s Cradle Creations
Filing: Everything Else — CatsCradleCreations @ 4:47 pm

Name: Melissa Jhenine
Info: I’m a 29-year-old stay at home mom of four kids. Life with three boys and one girl can get hectic at times, but it’s all worth it. Some days are harder than others, but we all make it through as a family.

I’m married to a University Lecturer and currently live with his parents. I earned my Associate of Applied Science in Computer Science degree in 2001, and I enjoy writing web pages and playing with graphics production.

We have one cat in our house, but she misses her buddy. Sierra is an 12-year-old brown classic tabby who likes to rule the roost. Hey, she’s got all her claws, so in order to keep our skin intact we keep the cat happy.

I’m a self-taught crocheter and knitter and have been crocheting since fall of 2001; I learned how to knit in early 2006. Since 2002, my yarn stash has slowly multiplied and taken over the house. I think almost every room of our last house had yarn in it somewhere. My patterns have filled a small filing tote and are starting to take over the bookshelves. When we move, I’m getting an entire closet for my yarn and patterns. I hope that’s big enough!!

You may have noticed my patterns. I’m trying my best to keep them free, especially since I don’t write very many. I’m currently writing a few crochet patterns, knitting patterns, as well as a combo crochet/knit pattern. These will soon be moved from the current blog to an indexed subdomain within my site. The blog will remain only until the site is ready to go.

I also dabble a bit into bead work and make rosaries to sell. I’ve made beaded lanyard necklaces from which to suspend my yarn and thread cutters, and I’m working on several beaded crochet projects.

Favorite projects include bags, purses, hats, scarves, granny squares, MAMs, purses, baby clothes, and slippers. I prefer the stuff that moves a bit faster, but I have several afghans in progress as well. Those just get put on the back burner when I get tired of the same thing over and over. I get impatient to get something done, and when it doesn’t go fast enough, I tend to put it away for a while and pick it up later.

I’ve been dabbling in the look and layout of my site. Since I’ve been doing more scrapbooking, I’ve created a scrapbook look on my blog. To make the pages load faster, I’ve reduced the number of images shown and changed to all drop-down or scrolled links.

    Hi,
Oh how I wish you were the teacher at the Michaels near me! I am interested in freeform knitting and crochet but only just started to learn how to knit. I am curious whether you can do freeform with the Knifty Knitter? If there are any resources you can point me towards, I would be most appreciative.
    Thanks!

I haven’t experimented with freeform on the Knifty Knitter, but since the pegs come out, I’m sure the potential is there. I’m in the process of writing a pattern since there aren’t very many available.

  3. If you need any layouts or free graphics, feel free to stop by our site. Your blog looks very nice already though.

Wonderful website I just wanted to know if your real last name is Jhenine? You see I have been having problems with my birth name and I’ve been finding several people with it. I know my name is authentic and I’m older than you–not many people come up with this spelling. Just curious–email me at jhenineparry[@]hotmail[DOT]com. Thanks.
